Yesterday was Pride, and it felt so good and liberating to be myself in public without the fear of being judged or harassed. Yes, that is something we queer people deal with daily, both in person and online. This was my second time attending Pride, but my first time fully out as trans, and the experience was amazing.
I suffer from severe anxiety that sometimes prevents me from leaving the house, but with a little help from some medicine, I was able to overcome that. I got some amazing photos of drag performers and other moments from Pride, and we even managed to share our content on social media. I dressed more femme and did more femme makeup—it was liberating. Next year, I think I want to try a skirt look with some leggings, so I’m definitely going to pay attention to my Pride outfit.
I couldn’t afford a lot this year, but being there as my true, authentic self was incredibly liberating. As for my facial hair, it’s actually not as much as it used to be. Laser hair removal is doing its job, and I’m very confident that at the end of this process, I’m going to have amazing results.
I thought this would be a part of my diary that I could share my Pride experience.
Much love,
Maddi
